Annotaion: Sonic the Hedgehog pursues his nemesis, Doctor Eggman. Eggman uses a powerful new weapon on Sonic to remove the Chaos Emeralds from him. Eggman then uses the Emeralds' energy to fire an enormous laser and unleash Dark Gaia, a powerful beast from the center of the planet, which shatters the planet into seven pieces. As a side effect, Sonic transforms into a "Werehog" at night — a wolf beast form that loses speed but gains greater strength and abilities. Sonic, along with some old friends like Amy Rose and Tails, travels the world's continents, finding Gaia Temples to restore the Emeralds' power and return the world and himself to normal.
